Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri (Urdu: محمد طاہر القادری‎) (born 19 February 1951) is a Pakistani politician and Islamic scholar . He was also a professor of international constitutional law at the University of the Punjab] Qadri is also the founding chairman of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. He has written more than thousand books on Islam, hadith and spiritualism. Qadri is a highly educated person with a doctorate degree and has attracted many educated Muslims.

Early Life

Tahir ul Qadri was born on February 19, 1951 in Pakistan in the city of Jhang. He is the son of deceived scholar Farid-ud-Din Qadri. He lived the three years of his life in Madina.

Founding of Minhaj-ul-Quran

Qadri claimed that he has seen Prophet of Islam in his dream. Qadri's face is flooded with tears in a video where he explains his dream that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was upset with the Pakistani Religious authorities as they had failed to be good hosts and He was leaving Pakistan. Qadri insisted and urged Prophet to stay in Pakistan. Ultimately, The Prophet stayed in Pakistan by saying "You found your organization Minhaj-ul-Quran, I promise I will come there".

Minhaj ul Quran is an organization which has a worldwide network of ninety countries.

Works

Qadri is a man of manifold achievements and works with the largest chain of authorities among all Muslims. He is an author of one thousand books out of which more than 500 hundred have published and many are in processes awaiting publications. He has delivered more than 10000 lectures in various languages including Urdu, English and Arabic.

Translation of Quran

Qadri has translated the Quran into English and Urdu.

Fatwa on Terrorism

Qadri has written a 600-page historic Fatwa on Terrorism.

Political Career

Qadri founded a Political Party Pakistan Awami Tehreek in 1983.

Views

The legal-theological opinion by Qadri creates an impression that there is a consensus in Islam on the rejectors which did not exist in Islamic Prophet's time but came about during the reign of the Fourth Caliph Hazrat Ali (RA) and challenged his authority.

Views on Jihad

Qadri says that Jihad has been hijacked by terrorists. Qadri said in his speech at Global peace and unity conference "“the literal meaning of jihad is exertion, struggling, striving, and putting extreme efforts according to extreme abilities, to counter evil, to achieve good for sake of Allah.” and "there is no verse in Quran which advocates killing, brutality and terrorism."
